The locals like to hang out in places like this which they normally called "santai" which means relaxing. Besides a place to eat, here's also the place where the locals drink. I mean real drinking of alcohol. You will noticed many beer girls coming to your tables to ask you drink beer. If you drink beer and you're a man alone or with a bunch of guys. These girls could sit next to you to have a conversational companion. They are not hookers but just selling their beer products. So, don't get the wrong idea.

Mermaid Pub

Batam has many nightlife and it starts in the day. Like the karaoke lounges starts from 2pm till late 3 am. Discotech however starts from 7 pm till 5 am. But I wouldn't recommend the discos as it goes on with techno music and it's filled with drug pusher. Also you have to be careful as some of the pushers are undercover cops.

Barong Karaoke

Located at Puri Garden hotel, Barong Karaoke are frequently visited by Singaporeans and other foreigners. Happy hour start from 5 pm till 8 pm. And the music rocks till the early morning. Hehehe....!! Still in Puri Garden Hotel, you can also check out Amazon cafe which has a live band. These bands are normally from Bandung and they played reasonably well.

Hotel Merlion

Mermaid Karaoke Lounge was such a huge lounge which makes it possible to dance for the audience ; ) with several KTV rooms. We chose the open lounge of course ; ) This lounge also has both a vast drinks menu and song repertoire.
