Driving in Batam needs alot of understanding. If you noticed on the main city, you'll see many vehicles turning with a horn or so. It's just normal here. The roads are long and winding at the inner part of Batam. It is because, the place is filled with hills. Cliffs in Batam There's alot of beautiful cliffs here in Batam. Really I feel sad about them. I saw many Vietnamese died with their babies and child in their grave. They love Batam so much and refuse to go back to thier own country Vietnam after Vietnam War. Though, they have a screening check but they are not really that strict as in Singapore. The people of Batam The original people of Batam are actually the Malays. But many have come to try out their luck in riches. Batam is eyed by many other people of Indonesia as a place where jobs are plenty with higher income. Which is actually very true. But unfortunately, not all are successful. Some end up cheated by agents with no money once arrived. Some end up in a brothel place. Traditional Market This a central traditional market in Batam, located in Jodoh, next to Ramayana and Robinson Department Store. Here we can buy any kind fresh vegetable and everyday use. Rumah Sakit Budi kemuliaan Rumah Sakit Budi Kemuliaan is one of the oldest hospital in Batam. Before other private hospitals were built, this hospital used to be for the rich and famous. The charges are very expensive to the average Indonesian standards. But as the people of Batam have more secured jobs with higher income, it now became a normal private hospital. Nasi Kuning + Ayam Penyet Nasi kuning and ayam penyet actualy origin from East Java, but we can find in Batam too, taste delisious....especially the sambal....:)
